LAKE JACKSON - Giving a ride to someone who appears to be in need might seem like an act of kindness, but it led to at least four people being taken for a ride themselves by suspected scam artists.

Police made the first of what they hope to be at least three arrests in a suspected scam that has fooled four people out of a collective $18,000, Lake Jackson Police Detective Russell Adams said.
