CORPUS CHRISTI - Carole Hildebran loves being a part of the Corpus Christi Police Department, but the 66-year-old doesn't carry a badge or get paid for her usual four-day workweek.

Instead, the retired mortgage loan closer volunteers her time by filing paperwork, scanning in documents and reviewing police reports.

Volunteering is a way for her to feel needed and productive, she said.
